Feb 05, 2007 – Brentwood, CA, USA – In early December Brentwood police officers confiscated hundreds of plants of high-quality cannabis being grown with little notice inside an innocuous three-bedroom home on LaCosta Drive. This was one of three homes in which a 21-year-old Brentwood man was running a million-dollar marijuana cultivation operation. Each home, rented within blocks of each other, had been renovated for the massive illicit growing. With another million-dollar operation uncovered at a home on Jan. 19, the city has seen three large-scale marijuana cultivation operations busted in a month. And Brentwood is not alone. Police are starting to see a pattern of similar large-scale cultivations operating with little attention on the quiet cul-de-sacs and serene streets of these planned suburban communities.
